Task

A learning activity that can be in different formats:

  • Freeform Text - Write you own answer in an open text box.
  • In-text Fill-in Blanks - Fill in missing words within a paragraph or sentence.
  • In-text Choices - Select the correct word from a set of options in a text.
  • Multiple Choice - Choose the correct answer(s) from a list of options.
  • Other interactive exercises

A task is one interaction between the learner and the system. It usually includes background information (like a case scenario) and a question. This is different from a learning session, which is a sequence of tasks.

Answer

The learner’s response to a task. This can include multiple elements—like several examples, multiple sentences, or several ticked checkboxes in a multiple-choice task. The entire answer is sent to the system all at once.

Aspects

Criteria used to evaluate a learner’s answer. They are created for you based on what you want learners to understand. Each Aspect evaluates a separate quality of the answer.

An Aspect includes:

  • 1 concept: What a correct answer shows the learner understands
  • 1 or more misconceptions: What a wrong answer reveals about the learner’s misunderstanding

For example, in an English grammar problem, the Indicative Verb aspect might check:

  • Concept: The learner uses the indicative form of the verb.
  • Misconception: The learner does not use the indicative form of the verb.

These aspects help pinpoint exactly what learners understand and where they're getting confused, rather than just marking answers right or wrong or identifying a broad area of difficulty.

At the moment, API does not allow editing of aspects - for required changes contact our team directly.

Feedback

The message(s) that provides the learner with useful information about their answer. This feedback considers how the learner scored on each Aspect (evaluation criteria). Feedback customizations (length, complexity, references, etc.) aren't available in the API — contact our team directly for these adjustments.
